Finally, a peep behind the scenes at Roskilde
Yiiihaaa, I’ve been granted the great privilege of blogging on the official Roskilde Festival blog. Of course I’ll post everything in here to let you, our loyal reader, in on all the action. Naturally this means that mosts of my posts in the coming months will be centered around the festival. The other guys will have to handle all the serious business while I’m off sipping whiskeys with Lemmy from Motorhead. So here’s my first post on the Roskilde blog.
So let’s kick off a new blog, and hopefully a new way of sharing great (and not so great) stuff about our favorite musical circus – Roskilde Festival. I guess I’ll be mostly writing about the actual music in here, but today I want to touch upon a different subject that has always triggered my vivid imagination – what goes on on the other side of the fence?
After nearly a decade as a very unimportant person at Roskilde, I’ve finally been granted access to the fabled backstage area. And boy oh girl, am I going to make the most of it. I have a curiosity I’m dying to get satisfied. For instance, does life backstage in any way compare to the massive celebration taking place amongst us commoners? Is the music industry still partying like it’s 1999, or has it woken up with a post-Napster hangover? Is anyone actually getting any real work done? Have music journalists abandoned long-form articles in exchange for 140 characters on Twitter and 5 sentence blog posts?
Since I got the privileged position as blogger ahead of several hundred people I guess I have to show some professionalism. So I went ahead and made this flashy pie chart illustrating what I expect to meet on the hip side. You have to be prepared and blend in with the music elitists.
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one with a lot of questions about what goes on behind the curtain. I urge you to post all of them in the comments, and I’ll promise to throw myself into the action in search for some real and uncensored truth. So, much thanks to the people at Roskilde for letting me run free and happy wherever I want. Now let’s shed some digital ink and have fun!

Wow, tillykke Thor!
Congratulations Thor!
The best thing about the medieområde is actually getting a warm shower without paying or standing in line… Oh no, the very best is actually the sound check on the Orange Scene where you can mosh to RATMs Killing In The Name Of. Oh, and the prefestival-celebrations before it gets too heavily crowded. And of course the cold and cheaper Beer. And to try to smuggle it out somehow. And the shortcuts to the festivalarea. And the slumber beneath the trees. And the free internet. The clean(er) toilets. And the grass is greener and the sky is always blue. But very precise diagram bout the people you´ll meet.
But are you shure, you want to drink with Lemmy? I heard they have problems finding tour managers cause of a very indefinable smell… but, hey, just rumors.
Best regards og fortsat god festival.
